According to current CDC guidelines, Covid-19 has passed from epidemic to endemic with the availability of both vaccines and effective treatments.

CDC no longer considers masks necessary for most people.

Customers are still encouraged to wear masks if they wish and staff will wear masks upon request.

Saturday, June 3rd: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of Airbrushing or Figure Painting techniques from 2 pm until 4 pm. The subject of the demonstration will be determined by what is requested with the default being some of both. Please make request prior to Saturday so I have time to prepare. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Saturday, June 10th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of Model Weathering and Finishing from 2 pm until 4 pm. We have a number of techniques we use for this process and can work on military or civilian models or railroad rolling stock or structures. We will use one or two of our choice unless requested otherwise. Please make specific requests prior to Saturday so I have time to prepare. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of the demonstration between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Saturday, June 17th: Rail Tales will host a Pre-Release (sealed deck) for the ‘Lord of the Rings’ Magic the Gathering set (MtG LoR) starting at 6 pm with registration beginning at 5 pm. This event may be held in the store, so we have a hard cap of 16. Because of this event, there will be no demonstration.

Saturday, June 24th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of basic scenery techniques from 2 pm until 4 pm. The planned demonstration for this event is various techniques for doing ground covers. This includes pastes, ground foam, static grass, and more. These techniques are appropriate for model railroading, diorama building, and gaming miniatures. In the future, if you want us to cover a specific subject, we usually ask for a month of lead time now so I can prepare. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of the demonstration between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Gaming Events

Friday, June 16th and Saturday June 17th: Rail Tales will host a Pre-release (sealed deck) for Magic the Gathering’s Lord of the Rings set (MtG LoR). The event starts at 6:30 on Friday and 4 pm on Saturday. Note that the Saturday event may be held in the store. We may also hold a 3rd Pre-release on Sunday at 6 pm, depending on demand.

Every Friday in June except June 16th: We are hosting Friday Night Magic (FNM) beginning at 6:30 PM . There are a maximum of 16 slots (4 tables) so call for reservations.  If you have any questions, speak with Nathan. The format for the month is March of the Machines on the 2nd and 9th and LoR (Lord of the Rings) on the 23rd.

Lazy Sunday Night Magic (LSNM) will be held at the store starting at 6 pm on every Sunday of June. The cap is 16 as per FNM. The format for these events is Commander and the cost is $5 to pay for prize support. Call for details.

Saturday, June 23rd: The Jefferson Railroad Club will meet at 5 pm in the workshop space. If you wish to attend this event, please call in advance on Saturday. Due to scheduling conflicts, we often cannot manage a quorum and will cancel if this is the case.

Sunday, May 7th: The Shenandoah Valley Train Show will be hosted by the August County Railroad Museum in the Expo Center in Fishersville from 10 am to 4 pm. This is a good sized regional show with a lot of offerings. Rail Tales will have tables at the show for the first time since 2019. Come and see us! We can also do track painting and ballasting, basic layout wiring, switch motor installation, DCC operations, and some signal type setups. Please make specific requests well in advance of Saturday so I can make sure to have the appropriate materials and subject on hand. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of the demonstration between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

The default Format for FNM on the 7th is All Will Be One but we will probably do some sort of chaos draft instead. If you have any questions, speak with Nathan.
