Covid News:

According to current CDC guidelines, Covid-19 has passed from epidemic to endemic with the availability of both vaccines and effective treatments.

CDC no longer considers masks necessary for most people.

Customers are still encouraged to wear masks if they wish and staff will wear masks upon request.

General Store Events

Saturday, February 4th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of Airbrushing or Figure Painting techniques from 2 pm until 4 pm. The subject of the demonstration will be determined by what is requested with the default being some of both. Please make request prior to Saturday so I have time to prepare. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Saturday, February 11th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of Model Weathering and Finishing from 2 pm until 4 pm. We have a number of techniques we use for this process and can work on military or civilian models or railroad rolling stock or structures. We will use one or two of our choice unless requested otherwise. Please make specific requests prior to Saturday so I have time to prepare. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of the demonstration between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Saturday, February 18th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of Track Laying and Train Control Systems from 2 pm until 4 pm. We can do a number of different installation and wiring demonstrations for this event with the default being track laying using flex track. We can also do track painting and ballasting, basic layout wiring, switch motor installation, and some signal type setups. Please make specific requests well in advance of Saturday so I can make sure to have the appropriate materials and subject on hand. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. A reminder- if nobody calls the day of the demonstration between 11 and 1, we usually cancel the demonstration so if you want to see it, make sure to call.

Saturday, February 25th: Rail Tales will host a demonstration of basic scenery techniques from 2 pm until 4 pm. The default demonstration is a continuation/repeat of the Sculptamold demonstration from last month. However, this demonstration may involve a number of subjects including basic land form construction, Sculptamold use, ground cover installation, rocks and rock painting, water subjects, and trees. If you want us to cover a specific subject, please call several days in advance so I can prepare an appropriate subject. This demonstration will take place in the workshop but report to the store first. Gaming Events

Friday, February 3rd: Rail Tales will be hosting a Pre-Release Sealed Deck event for MtG All Will Be One at 6:30 PM in the store. The cap for this event is 16.

Sunday, February 5th: Rail Tales will be hosting a Pre-Release Sealed Deck event for MtG All Will Be One at 6:30 PM in the workshop space (but go to the store first to buy decks). The cap for this event is 16.

No Magic events on February 12th and 17th due to Nathan being on vacation.

Sunday, February 26th: Rail Tales will be hosting the Store Championship in the store at 6 pm. There are 16 slots for this event. Cost is 5$. The format for this event is Pioneer.

We are hosting Friday Night Magic (FNM) beginning at 6:30 PM every Friday night this month except the 3rd (because of the Pre-Release- see above) and the 17th (because Nathan will be on vacation!). There are a maximum of 16 slots (4 tables) so call for reservations. The default Format for FNM is All Will Be One. If you have any questions, speak with Nathan.

Lazy Sunday Night Magic (LSNM) will be held on Sunday evening, February 19th ONLY. The event is preempted on the 5th by the Pre-Release (see above) and on the 26th by the Store Championship and is cancelled on the 12th due to Nathan’s vacation. This event starts at 6 pm. The cap is 16 as per FNM. The format for these events is Commander and the cost is $5 to pay for prize support. Call for details.

Club Events

Saturday, February 11th: The Charlottesville Model Club meeting will be held beginning at 4:30 in the workshop. Attendees may go directly to the workshop and do not have to report to the store first. Masks are no longer required for this event but are recommended.

Saturday, February 25th: The Jefferson Railroad Club will meet at 5 pm in the workshop space.

Rail Tales is now offering 3D design and printing services under the name “Krafty Fox Models”. Contact us for details.
