December
Covid News:
As of July 1st, 2021, the State of Emergency in Virginia has been allowed to lapse. Rail Tales has resumed normal operations with the following exception:
“Mask or Vaccine” is still in effect at Rail Tales. We may have to require masks of all visitors should the local situation warrant but at this time we will still allow vaccinated customers to visit without a mask.
All Rail Tales visitors will either have to present a completed vaccine card or a picture or copy of one or they will have to wear a mask. Masks will be provided upon request. We are taking this position to protect our staff and other customers: more than half of us have one or more risk factors that make us much more vulnerable.
Thank you for your support.

June
Covid News:
As of June 1st, 2021, 2020 Rail Tales is operating according to its normal scheduled hours of operation under the Phase 3 Recovery for Virginia as modified by Executive Order updates, the most recent of which took effect May 28th.
The Good News:
1) Social Distancing is no longer required.
2) Our events are no longer limited in size nor limited to ‘after store hours’ or ‘off site locations’.
3) Wizards of the Coast now allows official events again.
4) Masks are not required for vaccinated persons in situations where all persons are either masked or have completed the vaccination process.
The bad news:
Not everyone has completed the vaccination process and some people lie about completing it when they have not and/or have no intention of doing so.
Therefore beginning June 8th:
All Rail Tales visitors who have completed the vaccination process will not have to wear masks! You are still welcome to wear one if you feel it is necessary. We also reserve the right to ask for your vaccine card so if you wish to visit without a mask, please have your card or a photo in your smart phone of your card accessible.
In other words: Get your shot(s) or bring a mask please!
Thank you for your support.

The June 4th event will be Strixhaven booster draft.
The June 11th event will be a Pre-Release for Modern Horizons 2. Note that the cost for this event is a $50 flat fee (to cover the higher cost of MH2). This is a 5% discount off MSRP. Note that the 16 person limit still applies! We are also holding a draft on the following Sunday (see below).
We are holding a second Modern Horizons 2 Pre-Release on Sunday June 13th. This will be held in our workshop space from 1 pm until we finish. Play will take place in our workshop space between 1 pm and 5 pm (to allow people to get food before LSNM) subject to the availability of a ‘store associate’ (someone the store trusts with a key) to be responsible for the people in the event and to run it. Covid News:
As of April 1st, 2021, 2020 Rail Tales is operating according to its normal scheduled hours of operation under the Phase 3 Recovery for Virginia as modified by Executive Order 72 version 4.
What this means for Rail Tales:
1) We are required to strictly enforce social distancing. Customers should maintain social distancing from all persons except those you arrived with. We can be charged with a crime if we do not enforce this rule so please bear with us. Among other things, this makes it impossible to hold our gaming events during store hours, therefore…
1a) All gaming events are moved to after store closing and are now Social Events. Lazy Friday Magic (formerly FNM) will begin at 7 pm. Lazy Sunday Magic has been moved to 6 pm on Sunday. Other events will be posted.
1b) Saturday Demonstrations have to be done entirely in our workshop and are considered ‘social events’.
1c) Club Meetings are now held in our workshop if possible and cancelled if not.
2) Version 4 of Executive Order 72 allows for social gatherings to have 50 people, so our Magic events and club events are limited only by our facility capacity (which is less than 50 people). We will announce event limits with the event announcement itself.
3) Face coverings now have to be worn in any setting where two or more people are occupying the same room other than their private residence. This does not effect the public (because customers already had to wear masks) but means our staff has to wear masks even when nobody is in the store. Also, masks must cover nose and mouth, not just the mouth. We are requiring that Rail Tales customers wear face coverings while in the store to comply with this order. Remember that your face covering protects others and their face covering protects you!
All Rail Tales staff is either fully vaccinated or has received at least one shot towards being vaccinated. We encourage our customers to do the same.
We are still working very hard to keep our surfaces sterile, including door handles and signature pens. Be assured that if any staff members are knowingly exposed to a Covid carrier, we will close as necessary to make sure we do not pose a risk to our customers.
Thank you for your support.
